Influencing Government at the very highest levels the FIA were able to:
Secure Key Worker status from the Secretary of State for fire industry professionals due to the essential nature of the work we do.
Provide input for the Fire Safety Bill and the Building Safety Bill
Creation of a portal to host EWS-1 forms and playing our part in solving the national cladding crisis. EWS-1 forms were developed after the Grenfell tragedy as a means of enabling competent fire experts to assess the fire safety of external cladding on high rise buildings.
Leading the industry’s response to the UKCA product mark.
Outside of work with the Government we were able to:
Transitioning FIA Level 3 qualifications and CPD sessions online, including online exams, enabling fire professionals to continue raising the bar on competency during a pandemic.
Developing our training and CPD portfolios by adding new courses such as BS 5839-6 (Domestic dwellings) and BS 8629 (Evacuation Alert Systems).
Creation of the FIA CPD Certification Centre – An exclusive member benefit whereby the FIA assess and certify your presentations for CPD suitability and awarding of CPD hours
