FIA Essentials
Focused, practical learning for the fire industry
What is FIA Essentials?
FIA Essentials is our growing range of focused training courses designed to develop the knowledge and skills needed across the fire industry.
Essentials gives us the flexibility to provide training on specific technical subjects without every course needing to form part of a formal qualification.
Courses can range from short, on-demand online learning to more detailed classroom or instructor-led training. What they have in common is a clear purpose - providing practical, relevant learning that can be applied in the workplace.
Essentials or Qualifications - what's the difference?
FIA Essentials and FIA Qualifications provide two complementary routes through FIA training.
FIA Essentials
Focused learning designed to develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills in a particular subject. Essentials courses do not lead to a regulated qualification.
FIA Qualifications
Structured programmes of learning and assessment leading to recognised, regulated qualifications for the fire industry.
An Essentials course may be right for you if you need knowledge in a particular area, want to refresh or update your existing knowledge, or need training relevant to your role without undertaking a full qualification.
Where a formal qualification is required, you should explore our FIA Qualifications instead.
