BS 5306-8: Extinguishers for Electrical Fires - 2023 Revision

The 2023 revision of BS 5306-8 (FIA Technical Fact File 96) introduced important changes to the guidance covering the selection and provision of portable fire extinguishers for fires involving electrical equipment.

This short online learning resource provides an overview of the changes from the withdrawn 2012 edition and explains some of the key considerations when selecting and providing extinguishers where live electrical equipment may be involved.

The resource includes information on the changes to the standard, electrical conductivity of extinguishing media, extinguisher provision for electrical risks and some of the associated safety considerations.
