Online Proctoring
Online Proctored Exams
Some FIA exams are now completed using online proctoring. This allows you to sit your exam remotely, without joining a live Zoom invigilation session. Your exam will still be invigilated, but the setup is different. You will need to complete system checks, verify your identity, scan your room, and use your mobile phone as a second camera during the exam.
If your course includes an online proctored exam, we will contact you before your exam window opens to confirm this and provide the relevant instructions. Not all exams are currently taken this way, so please follow the specific guidance sent to you for your course.
Please read the guidance carefully before your exam window opens.
Watch the Setup Video
Please watch the video below before your exam. It explains the online proctoring setup process and shows what you will need to do before starting the exam.

Download the Candidate Guide
The candidate guide explains the full process step by step, including:
- System requirements
- How to complete the system check
- How to set up your mobile phone camera
- ID verification
- Room scan requirements

- Starting and finishing your exam
Before You Take Your Exam
You must make sure you have:
- A laptop or desktop computer
- Google Chrome installed
- A working webcam, microphone and speakers
- A stable internet connection
- A mobile phone to use as a second camera
- A quiet room where you can sit the exam alone
- Photo ID available for verification
You will also need to complete the system check before taking your exam. This checks that your equipment, internet connection, screen sharing and mobile phone camera are working correctly.
We recommend completing the system check as early as possible so there is time to resolve any issues before you sit your exam.
During Your Exam
You must:
- Sit the exam alone
- Remain visible throughout
- Use only one screen
- Keep your mobile phone camera connected
- Keep your desk and surrounding area clear
- Avoid opening any unauthorised materials, websites, emails or applications
- Follow all instructions shown on screen
Any breach of exam conditions may result in your exam attempt being invalidated.
After Your Exam
Your result will show on screen when you finish, but this is not final until the invigilation recording has been reviewed.
Finalised results will be confirmed by email within 10 working days of the exam being taken.
