The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), acting as the Agency for UK REACH, has launched a six-month public consultation on the use of PFAS in firefighting foams. This consultation, running until 18 February 2026, invites input from industry stakeholders, including those who use foams and trade associations.

This is a key opportunity for the fire sector to share views before the proposals are submitted to the Defra Secretary of State, as well as the Scottish and Welsh Governments, for consideration of potential legal restrictions.
