The FIA has published updated guidance on PFAS restrictions affecting firefighting foams, reflecting changes since the introduction of EU legislation and confirming that Northern Ireland continues to follow EU requirements.

This guidance clarifies the current regulatory position across the UK and Europe, helping to address market confusion and misconceptions that all AFFF is now banned. It provides clear, practical advice for manufacturers, installers, end users, and regulators on managing compliance and planning a structured transition from fluorinated to non-fluorinated firefighting foams, while maintaining effective fire protection.

The document replaces the previous FIA guidance issued in October 2024 and July 2025, and supports the sector with clear, authoritative information during a period of regulatory change.
