BS 9990 Non-automatic firefighting systems in buildings – Code of practice has now been issued as a Draft for Public Comment (DPC).
The public consultation period will run for two months, closing on 5 April 2026. During this time, stakeholders are invited to review the draft standard and submit comments for consideration.
The draft can be accessed online via the BSI Standards Development platform at:

Please note that users will need to register and log in to view the document and submit comments directly.
Members who wish their feedback to be included as part of a Fire Industry Association response should submit their comments using the FIA comment template. Comments should clearly explain the reason for any proposed change and include suggested alternative wording for the committee’s consideration.
Completed templates should be returned to [email protected] by the stated deadline. All FIA submissions will be reviewed by the Extinguishing Council before being consolidated into a formal response.
