In a significant step towards improving fire safety standards across the UK, the Fire Industry Association (FIA) has released the latest edition of its Fire Risk Assessors – Standard Scope of Services. This document, now in its second version as of August 2025, is aimed at supporting both responsible persons and fire risk assessors in clearly understanding the expected scope and limitations of a fire risk assessment.

The FIA’s updated Fire Risk Assessors – Standard Scope of Services (Version 2, August 2025) sets a new benchmark for clarity, legislative alignment, and client–assessor transparency. Building on the 2014 edition, the document now reflects major regulatory changes, modern risks, and clearer role definitions for everyone involved in a fire risk assessment.
