It has been over a decade since the FIA last formed a new council, making this a significant step forward. We operate under councils to ensure focused discussions and clear action points. A few years ago, we established an Internet of Things (IoT) Working Group, which has since expanded to cover a range of topics, including cyber security, system-to-system communications, and the recording of information as part of the “Golden Thread.”
As we continue to monitor developments in the fire safety industry, it is clear that technology is evolving rapidly, both in scope and potential. To help guide this progress, the FIA Board has decided to form a new group, provisionally named the Technology Council, which will help shape our future direction and keep us at the forefront of innovation. Please see here for further information.
In September, members will be asked to nominate yourself in the normal round of voting onto Councils and Board pre-AGM. There will be a maximum of 15 members accepted onto the council as standard. The FIA Technology Council will be formed and the first course of duty at the first meeting will be to nominate a Chair from those voted in.
We encourage you to watch for further details and seize the opportunity to be part of this new council - helping to shape the future of our industry.
If you are not currently a member, there is still time to get involved. Please contact [email protected] for more information.
