Euralarm has released an interpretation sheet to support service providers in delivering secure remote services for fire and security systems. Building on earlier guidance, the new document offers detailed clarifications, practical recommendations, and answers to common questions, helping you navigate the EN 50710 standard with confidence.

Euralarm has published a new interpretation sheet to expand on its previous guidance surrounding remote services. This latest document offers further clarification, practical recommendations, and answers to frequently asked questions.

About the Standard

The EN 50710 standard, titled "Requirements for the provision of secure remote services for fire safety systems and security systems", was developed by the CEN/CLC/JTC 4 committee and officially released by CEN-CENELEC in 2021. Euralarm’s Services section played a key role in its development, aiming to encourage wider adoption of remote servicing for Fire Safety and Security Systems (FSSS). Their goal is to support service companies in meeting the requirements and to boost confidence among end-users, insurers, and response authorities.

In 2022, Euralarm published initial guidance to help service providers assess their readiness to deliver remote services in line with the standard. Recognising the common reliance on cloud-based technologies, Euralarm also released a separate guide in early 2025 focused on best practices for contracting cloud services.

New Interpretation Sheet

Since the standard’s release, questions have emerged around interpreting specific requirements. As CEN-CENELEC does not produce official interpretation sheets, Euralarm has stepped in to create a practical document for its members.

The interpretation sheet is organised into two main sections:

  • Tab One: Builds on the 2022 checklist by offering detailed interpretations and recommendations for each clause. It also identifies whether each requirement relates to the Remote Access Infrastructure (RAI), to features of the FSSS products themselves, or to organisational processes.
  • Tab Two: Presents a set of frequently asked questions, addressing broader concerns that don’t tie directly to any single clause in the standard.

Intended Users

This resource is aimed at service providers looking to offer compliant remote services for Fire Safety and Security Systems under EN 50710. Delivering these services isn’t just about having the right technology – it also requires putting appropriate organisational processes in place. This interpretation sheet is designed to help providers better understand and implement the standard’s requirements.
