BSI has announced the release of the 3rd and final version of the following standard:

BSI Flex 8670: v3.0 2021-04, Built environment – Core criteria for building safety in competence frameworks – Code of practice

Please note that this BSI Flex is now the result of our project Advisory Group reaching consensus on the comments received during two public consultations, with those outcomes being adopted in to the standard.

BSI’s Flex Standards provide a new, flexible way to develop consensus-based good practice that dynamically adapts to keep pace with fast-changing markets. BSI Flex standards are produced by the UK national standards body, BSI Standards Limited. For more information, click here.

The development of BSI Flex 8670 has been sponsored by The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and is part of a wider programme of work around competence in the built environment.

Although the BSI Flex development process has now concluded, BSI Flex 8670 will be transitioning into BS 8670 in 2022. In the interim, version 3 of BSI Flex 8670 is available to download and use from the following link:

Please click on the link directly below the header to access version 3 of BSI Flex 8670. However, it is also very important that you download the supporting documentation (‘The future of BSI Flex 8670’ and ‘Wider context’) so you can understand the context for the work, how to interact with BSI Flex 8670 and the process going forward.

BSI is, first and foremost, seeking your feedback on using BSI Flex 8670 in the hopes that we can make BS 8670 even better. Please provide this, by answering some specific questions, via this feedback form. Clause by clause commenting can be made through our standards development portal.

BSI Flex 8670 will be available until BS 8670 is published, unless BSI receives authoritative advice to withdraw it. BSI asks that industry keep using BSI Flex 8670 until it is either superseded or withdrawn.
