08 October 2025

World Fire Safety Day returns today, uniting the world behind one shared goal: to reduce fire risk, prevent loss, and protect communities through education, competency, and collaboration.

This year’s campaign calls on individuals, organisations, and governments to take meaningful action — from improving building standards to investing in the skills and training that save lives. Supported by international partners across multiple sectors, World Fire Safety Day 2025 aims to ignite a new global commitment to competency in fire safety.

A Coordinated Effort to Raise Standards Worldwide

Every year, fires devastate lives, damage economies, and impact the environment. The 2025 campaign shines a spotlight on these challenges while promoting practical, sustainable solutions.

The message is clear: competency saves lives. Whether through effective detection systems, well-trained professionals, or robust safety codes, reducing fire risk starts with ensuring the right knowledge, skills, and understanding at every level.

The campaign also recognises the global inequality in fire protection — particularly in developing or rapidly urbanising regions where enforcement and awareness remain limited. Through shared learning and cross-border collaboration, World Fire Safety Day aims to close this gap.

Global Call to Action: Petition and Live Broadcast

A key moment in this year’s campaign will be the presentation of a global petition to world leaders in Geneva, urging governments to make fire safety a core investment priority. The petition advocates for greater funding, policy reform, and stronger competency frameworks across all fire safety disciplines.

The campaign will also host a live global broadcast starting at 1pm (UK time) on 8 October, connecting experts, policymakers, and industry leaders. The event will feature panel discussions, educational insights, and interviews with international fire safety specialists, streamed worldwide through the campaign website.

A downloadable toolkit has also been released, providing partners with promotional assets including posters, social media templates, and educational materials — all designed to help raise awareness and inspire local participation.
