11 March 2024
This technical bulletin explores the impact of painting fire detection and fire alarm system cables, highlighting its potential impact on cable integrity, fire resistance and other possible hazards during a fire incident. Whilst water-based paints pose less risk than oil-based paints, they may still jeopardise fire resistance and release harmful gases. The act of painting may lead to manufacturers not assuring long-term fire resistance of the cables post-painting.
