Designed primarily for residential premises, the document provides a straightforward appraisal tool that helps identify buildings where further specialist assessment is unnecessary, reducing unnecessary recommendations and avoiding avoidable costs for Responsible Persons while maintaining an appropriate level of fire safety. The guidance is intended to support fire risk assessments undertaken under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and complements, rather than replaces, the detailed risk assessment process described in BS EN 62305-2.
