One month to go until the launch

22 May 2017

The Fire Industry Association (FIA) announced on May 2nd that we would be launching four brand new formal qualifications in fire detection and alarm systems.  The qualifications will be officially launched at FIREX (20-22nd June) with a full programme of seminars and workshops.

The four new qualifications, which are provided through the new awarding organisation for the fire industry, the FIA AO, are designed to reflect the four main job roles of the sector - designer, installer, maintainer, and commissioner – with one qualification for each. Working in combination with employers, recruiters, member organisations, and learners, the FIA developed the qualifications around the precise needs of each specific job role.

There will be three seminars presented by Martin Duggan, General Manager of the FIA, which will be held across the three days at FIREX. The talks, which will have an interactive feel and give the audience plenty of opportunity to ask questions, will give detailed information about each specific qualification, the units studied for each, and the examination process.  You’ll also be able to pick up a hard copy of the FIA’s new Professional Learning and Qualifications Prospectus.

Here’s what’s coming up:

The new qualifications, which have taken years of research, have been designed to give those working in the industry (or those just joining or wishing to join) a professional in-depth knowledge of their specialist field, and are a Level 3 on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), equivalent to an A-Level or NVQ Level 3.

There will be limited seats available at each seminar, so turn up early to get the best spot.  Entrance to FIREX is free, and the seminars are open to all.  To register, go to www.firex.co.uk – or for more information about the new qualifications, read more on our blog pages.
