An update to BS 5306-3 has been published.  This standard covers portable fire extinguishers and is a replacement for the old 2009 standard.

The FIA has been working on a guidance document which lists all of the changes.  

The guide provides a summary of the changes that have been made to the standard in a quick bullet point format, meaning that those working in the portable fire extinguisher sector can update their knowledge quickly.

The changes highlighted in the guide are:
1    Improvement of the layout of the standard to improve ease of reading and interpretation
2    Greater clarification given of the procedures
3    System of Maintenance for Extinguishers with Non-Metal Bodies
4    Recognition of safety / advisory notices
5    Collation of information to be provided to the responsible person
6    Enhanced Steps and Documentation Re compliance with BS5306-8 and Statutory Duties
7    Inclusion of references to BS 5306-9
