The FIA has released its Annual Report for 2025, marking a year of pivotal progress in advancing fire safety and professionalism across the industry.
Another year has passed, and our mission stays the same, upholding the highest standards of fire safety through education, technical expertise and collaboration has never been more important. As fire safety challenges continue to change, the FIA remain at the centre, driving the industry forward and advocating for enhanced safety regulations.
Looking back on the last year, it has been another momentum defining year, with every initiative the Fire Industry Association has undertaken raising the standard of fire safety, protecting more lives and property than previously.
Number of members grew, increasing by 10.6 percent, exceptional levels of member retention maintained at 98.5 percent and we only lost seventeen members.
Training has continued to go from strength to strength with the catalyst being the introduction of the BS 5839 1:2025, numbers of attendees for training sessions have exceeded record levels, leading to more fire safety professionals gaining the skills and knowledge to excel. The launch of our comprehensive Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) course has been hugely popular touring eight cities, with over 2,500 professionals attending and 7,200 CPD hours earned collectively.
We continued to strengthen our leadership team with the addition of new General Manager Andrew Ledgerton Lynch, who’s experience, and passion will be invaluable in helping the Fire Industry Association achieve our aims. Other exciting developments were the launch of phase one of the new FIA website a modern, user-friendly platform designed to make it easier for professionals to access guidance, book training and engage with our community. As this is phase one, there will be more phases unveiled over the next few months, so keep your eyes peeled for exciting updates. We also launched the FIA Technology Council which looks to build on our momentum and help us continue our journey into the digital era.
Continuing our commitment to share our expertise both locally and further afield saw us relaunch our regional FIM Expo programme in Harrogate, attend the Fire Safety Event at the NEC Birmingham, jet off to Gibraltar to host the inaugural FIA Fire Safety Summit. Whilst continuing to engage with the Irish market, exploring further ways we can add value. All wrapped up with the highlight event of the year, our AGM and Annual Lunch at the Brewery, London.
2026 promises to be another successful year with the aim to continue taking positive strides to improve the industry. As we move forward, we want to show our gratitude for the support of our members and partners, who enable us to break barriers and push the standards of fire safety. Together we will continue to champion competence and transparency.
