Aspirating smoke detection can provide an effective solution where conventional smoke detection may be challenged by factors such as building height, airflow, accessibility or the need for earlier warning. But getting the best from ASD is about much more than simply selecting a system.
Join Martin Norris of FFE and James Gilligan from Illumino Ignis who will explore how aspirating smoke detection fits within a risk-based fire detection strategy and the key considerations that should influence system design.
The session will look at how ASD works, the role of Classes A, B and C, how sensitivity relates to the application, and how factors such as smoke movement, sampling-point location, pipe design, accessibility and maintenance need to be considered.
We will also look at practical application examples and the importance of correct commissioning and performance testing to ensure the finished system is appropriate for the risk it is intended to protect.
