Everything we do is based on the following core values and beliefs:
- There should be a holistic approach to fire safety
Our members include manufacturers, installers and maintainers of all types of fire protection equipment, from fire detection to portable extinguishers and fire risk assessments
- Best practice should be adopted across all relevant industries
We promote best practice within the insurance and building industries amongst others
- False alarms take up valuable resources and should be reduced as much as possible
We work with CFOA to promote a consistent approach to false alarm management
- Third Party Certification helps to prove’ competence’ and should be universally adopted
To that extent all our members either have or are working towards Third Party Certification. We help those that don’t have certification via our Route to Certification schemes
- People and businesses should be educated as to their legal responsibilities
We educate owners and managers of commercial businesses throughout the UK as to their legal responsibilities through educational seminars and PR activity
- We are committed to education and training
We operate a comprehensive training programme for new and experienced engineers in the trade to make sure they are kept up-to-date with the latest legislation that affects them
- We are proactive in technical developments
We have technical experts on over 100 committees in both the UK and Europe, making sure Standards and legislation best reflects the concerns and requirements of the UK fire industry. In addition we produce technical documents to help educate the industry and we have a technical team on hand to help with any queries
- We take environmental concerns seriously
We work with legislative bodies to ensure best practice for environmental issues and are constantly promoting environmental awareness via educational seminars, PR and technical documents
