The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is seeking input on firefighting foams containing per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), and the Fire Industry Association (FIA) encourages its members to participate in this crucial dialogue. Act now to ensure your voice is heard in shaping regulations impacting the fire industry.

In response to the HSE call for evidence regarding firefighting foams containing PFAS under the UK registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemicals (REACH) regulations, the FIA is actively engaging its members to participate in this significant consultation process.

The HSE is currently gathering information and evidence on PFAS firefighting foams, and stakeholders are invited to identify themselves as willing to engage in further dialogue throughout the restrictions process. This initial step is crucial in ensuring that the concerns and perspectives of industry professionals are considered in the formulation of regulatory measures.

As a proactive measure, the FIA is registered as a stakeholder in this process. By participating in this consultation, fire professionals can contribute valuable insights and perspectives that will shape the future of firefighting foam regulations.
