The government guidance on storing and treating waste fire extinguishers: RPS 132 has been reviewed and updated on 13th March 2024.
The main differences between this version and the previous one is as follows:
- Storage of extinguishers no longer than 3 months before treatment
- Storage undercover and in a secure way
- No discharge of foam to sewer
- Any foams containing POPS should be sent for high temperature incineration.
- If you are using this RPS you must apply for an environmental permit by 1st September 2024
- This RPS will be withdrawn on 1st September 2025
