The government guidance on storing and treating waste fire extinguishers: RPS 132 has been reviewed and updated on 13^th March 2024.

The main differences between this version and the previous one is as follows:

• Storage of extinguishers no longer than 3 months before treatment
• Storage undercover and in a secure way
• No discharge of foam to sewer
• Any foams containing POPS should be sent for high temperature incineration.
• If you are using this RPS you must apply for an environmental permit by 1^st September 2024
• This RPS will be withdrawn on 1^st September 2025
