FIRESA Council that represents the FIA’s Fire and Rescue suppliers has a new promotional flyer that reflects its key priorities and work items as we left a very busy 2018 and began what will be an equally engaging New Year 2019.

We continue to work via the NFCC’s Fire Commercial Transformation Programme on issues relating to procurement and R&D where we strongly support a centralised approach and have recently offered advice to the FRSs via the NFCC on the supply industry’s approach to Brexit.

Our liaison with the Fire Service College has gone from strength to strength and we’ve identified a number of ways in which to co-operate more effectively in the future, notably on export-related issues. In fact, the College is not only engaging with FIRESA Council but with the FIA’s Export Council and the Joint International Fire Board.

Meanwhile, the newly-formed Physical Evacuation Products Working Group within the FIA and reporting to FIRESA Council is now about to meet for the third time. There is a terrific level of enthusiasm among its sector participants and efforts are now under way on key deliverables including the development of Codes of Practice pertaining to several types of evacuation equipment.

Among our other activities have been our sponsorship of an award at the Excellence in Fire and Emergency Awards dinner, participation of several of members in the Fire Aid dinner at the House of Lords and planning for events in the first half of 2019 including Firex International and the LGA Fire Conference.
