CFOA responds to Which? research

18 June 2015

Concerns over the safety of appliances have been raised by The Chief Fire Officers Association (CFOA), following a report by consumer organisation, Which?.

The research revealed that around 12,000 fires were caused by faulty appliances, such as washing machines and tumble driers.

It was also found that there were a higher number of fires in products from certain manufacturers.

Andy Reynolds, Electrical Safety Lead at CFOA said: “The shocking numbers identified by Which? demonstrate how essential it is that people are aware of the fire risks associated with faulty appliances.

“We are working with partners to highlight the issue of unsafe electrical appliances, and to promote safety and information campaigns.”
