CQC places it in special measures

11 November 2015

A care home in Hartlepool has been placed in special measures by the Care Quality Commission after an inspection revealed a number of fire safety issues.

The report states that during one fire alarm, staff did not respond or fully check the area of the building where the potential fire was, and undertook no attempts to evacuate people from the area.

The report also describes how Cleveland Fire Service issued an action plan identifying a “significant number of failings of fire protection within the building.”

The inspection summary states: “Services in special measures will be kept under review and, if we have not taken immediate action to propose to cancel the provider’s registration of the service, will be inspected again within six months.

“The expectation is that providers found to have been providing inadequate care should have made significant improvements within this timeframe.”
