Peter Massingberd-Mundy, a standardisation expert active within various Technical Groups of the Euralarm Fire Section, has been confirmed this week as the newly elected Chairman of the European Committee for Standardisation’s Technical 72 Fire detection and fire alarm systems, CEN/TC 72.

13 February 2017

The election follows the resignation of former Chair Bernard Laluvein, which he announced after a 6-year tenure. Mr. Massingberd-Mundy, from Xtralis, a Honeywell company, is currently acting as chair of several other CEN working groups.

On behalf of Euralarm, he follows the activities of the Joint Initiative on Standardisation’s action 5: ‘Aiding the implementation of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) through standards’. Newly enforced standardisation procedures related to the CPR are currently causing several issues for the standardisation community, including delays to the publication of new standards in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), problems with mandate procedures and the harmonisation of European standards.

Euralarm’s position on those issues is closely aligned with the one of CEN-CENELEC in discussions with the European Commission.
