Unit 5 - Fire Alarm Maintenance

This one day course has been designed for service & maintenance engineers and electricians who work on fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839 Part 1 (2002). It may also be of benefit to facilities managers as the new Code of Practice contains revised recommendations on maintenance that they need to be aware of. Delegates enrolling for Unit 5 must first have attended Unit 1 – Fire Detection Design.

Course prices: £150 per delegate (FIA Members); £225 per delegate (Non Members). Prices are subject to VAT at the current rate.

  • Testing circuits
  • Testing systems
  • Testing power supplies and measuring current loadings
  • Calculating battery capacity and testing batteries
  • Documenting the results on service report forms and log books
  • Servicing certificate and recommended action

    During the course delegates will sit short tests and those attaining an average 75% pass mark will be awarded an FIA nationally recognised certificate.
