Unit 1 - Fire Detection Design

Description

This is an intensive one-day course which should suit sales engineers and others requiring a basis for further training.

All delegates are strongly advised to complete and pass this Unit before proceeding further with this modular training.  However, for those not wishing to progress further the Fire Detection Design Course stands alone, covering the essential aspects and requirements of BS5839 part 1 (2002).

It provides information on:

• Guides and codes of practice relevant to fire detection and alarms
• The categories of systems for a building (i.e. L1 to L5 : P1 to P2)
• Detector types and choices
• Manual call point zones
• Detector and alarm zone sizes and constraints
• Technology and system components
• Detector coverage, taking into account obstructions 
• Sounder requirements
• False alarm management and good maintenance
• New cable requirements
• Design certificate
