Hundreds of thousands of aspirating smoke detectors (ASD) installed worldwide have been operating continuously over the past decade. While many older ASD detectors continue to operate reliably, service and/or failure frequency may occur more frequently as result of system degradation. This may be particularly prevalent in applications where detectors are operating in dirty or dust-filled environments or have not been appropriately maintained.

As detectors age, the frequency of service interruption, maintenance, or total replacement increases. A failure typically results in unscheduled maintenance visits often translating to premium repair/replacement charges, in addition to untimely disruptions to normal operations.

In addition, the environment that the ASD system was originally installed can change over time as the business develops — equipment is added/removed, new loads, new partitions, air-conditioning etc. Unless Very Early Warning Fire Detection (VEWFD) tests are conducted annually, it’s impossible to know whether VEWFD performance is still being delivered as originally intended.

Xtralis offers the Detector Replacement Program for sites experiencing these maintenance and/or performance issues. The program provides incentives to return the sites to ‘as new’ performance using the latest technology, and restore long term reliability and hassle-free operation.
