In April 1931 the Railway Clearing House, in response to our enquiry, downgraded refills containing no acid under their Classification of Dangerous Goods, thus reducing transport costs. We informed our members. This was also used as an opportunity to write to non-members pointing out the benefits of collective action.

Fact File 60 ‘Portable Fire Extinguishers under the ADR’, is the current FIA guidance. ADR is currently being revised and is expected to be published in 2017. The Extinguishing Manufacturers Technical Committee (EMTC) are watching this closely and will update the fact file if the new version contains any relevant amendments
