The Fire Industry Association has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of the Environment agreeing to be the F-Gas certification body for fire in Northern Ireland.

Within the agreement, the FIA will be responsible for issuing fire-protection-system company certificates for installing, maintaining and servicing stationary fire-protection systems, as well as fire extinguishers containing certain fluorinated greenhouse gases, throughout Northern Ireland.

The first MoU between the FIA and the DoE was signed in 2009 and has expired this year. With this new agreement the FIA will continue to act as the certification body for a further five years.
