The European Commission has agreed to an extension of the coexistence period for the Standard EN 54-23 - Fire detection and fire alarm systems - Part 23: Fire alarm devices - Visual alarm devices.

The Co-existence period is extended until 31st December 2013, the same as the date of withdrawal of conflicting national technical specifications, after which presumption of conformity must be based upon harmonised European specifications.
