Kingsley Green Hospital, in Radlett, Hertfordshire, has selected Morley-IAS control panels as part of a sophisticated fire safety system when it opens later in 2014.

Part of a £42 million investment by Hertfordshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, the new development, formerly known as Harperbury Hospital, extends the existing psychiatric and care facilities on the site. It will include 64 adult mental health beds split into four wards, as well as a 16-bed adult learning disability ward. The site will also include a cafeteria and shop, guest suite and sports and activities area.

The Morley-IAS system provides superior software functionality designed to control the rapid, safe evacuation of disabled patients in the event of a fire-related incident, known as Cause & Effect.

Kingsley Green’s fire safety system comprises four networked Morley ZX5Se control panels and repeater panels, with 13 detection loops and up to 1,000 addressable devices, to provide comprehensive protection for the large site.

The fire safety system was designed and is currently being installed by Morley-IAS distribution partner M&G Fire, working with main electrical contractor W Portsmouth. Steve Middleton, managing director at M&G Fire says: “We have already had a very positive experience installing Morley panels at Mile End Hospital and believe it is the ideal choice for medical facilities such as Kingsley Green.

“Morley has an enviable reputation for robustness and reliability in hardworking environments,” he says. “In addition, they are simple to both install and maintain, making it easy for hospital staff to manage on a day-to-day basis.”
