A church on the Isle of Mann has been temporarily closed amid fire safety concerns.

A survey of the electrical installation of Lonan's All Saints Church declared the system to be dangerously unsafe and posing “a risk to life, as well as the danger of a fire”.

The church was instructed to shut off the power supply immediately.

It is estimated that the cost of repairing the electrical system could be as high as £25,000 and further work will be needed to address woodworm problems and make the building safe and weather tight

All services will be moved to Christ Church, Laxey.
