Much of the work of the Export Council concerns the promotion of our FIA Exporters in overseas markets. Following on from the publication of the FIA Exporters Directory, we have produced ‘A Selection of Overseas Projects Case Studies’ that highlights major successes of our members in supplying products and services around the world.

This remains a ‘work in progress’ that will be augmented by hopefully many more cases as these are received from the membership. We did, however, wish to publish a first version at an early stage featuring the initial set of contributions.

We’ve also contacted 12 DIT UK regional offices and 140 overseas locations covering over 100 countries. This has already generated a good number of responses including several project opportunities.

This comes at a time when we remain a pivotal partner in the ‘UK Fire and Resilience Offer’ initiative in which we’re active on the Joint International Fire Board and its Strategic Steering Group alongside DIT. This continues to gather pace as we become an unincorporated body with a Memorandum and Articles of Association, enact an MoU with DIT, develop our web site and create an opportunity for companies to appear in a Directory featuring organisations from across the fire safety sector. It also had a stand at the recent Ambition exhibition at Olympia and is due to appear at IFSEC/Firex in June and the Emergency Services Show in September.

A final word about becoming an FIA Exporter. This service is free of charge for FIA members so to find out more, contact our Export Manager, Dave Smith, at [email protected]
