Oven fire breaks out in Doncaster academy
A fire broke out in an academy in Doncaster after fat left in an oven caught alight, it has been revealed.
Staff from the Axholme Academy in Crowle managed to extinguish the blaze themselves after they were alerted to the incident by a smoke detector which sounded at around 11.40am on January 18th, reports the Epworth Bells.
Fire crews from both the Crowle and Epworth stations then attended the incident and used breathing apparatus and a fan to ventilate the building.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in England and Wales.
If a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is not carried out, the Responsible Person faces up to two years in prison or an unlimited fine.
No-one was hurt during the incident at the academy, which was formerly known as North Axholme School.
