Gloucestershire business park employees evacuated following fire
Employees at a business park in Gloucestershire had to be evacuated yesterday (6th February) after a fire broke out in a warehouse.
Fire crews were called to Highfield Business Park in Deerhurst at 10am after smoke was seen billowing from the roof of kitchen suppliers' firm Sollars Kitchens, reports the Gloucestershire Echo.
Employees from four businesses located on the site were led to safety as the flames began to spread from the warehouse.
A total of 20 firefighters spent an hour tackling the fire, which started in the northern end of Sollars Kitchens.
Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service's group commander, Clive Webber, told the news provider: "The fire began in a spray booth in one of a row of four units but then went through the complete roof space."
The fire is not being treated as suspicious as initial findings have revealed that it was caused by a spark setting fire to combustible materials.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in England and Wales.
If a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment is not carried out, the Responsible Person faces up to two years in prison or an unlimited fine.
