Five road painting vehicles damaged in Slough blaze
Five road painting vehicles have been damaged after a suspected arson attack on a highways maintenance company in Slough.
Fire crews were called to Wilson and Scott Highways in Poyle Industrial Estate on New Year's Day just after 7pm
In addition to the painting vehicles, a transit van, generator and 25 gas cylinders were also caught up in the blaze, which is being treated as suspicious by police.
Watch manager Pete Farmer told the Slough Observer: "Liquid propane gas cylinders were exploding and venting off travelling distances of 25metres from the scene through the area.
"We had to use other buildings to protect ourselves because of the hazard of cylinders firing through the area."
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in England and Wales.
If the fire risk assessment is deemed to be carried out to an insufficient extent, the Responsible Person can face an unlimited fine or a prison sentence of up to two years.
No-one was injured in the blaze.
