Ayrshire restaurant damaged in blaze
A restaurant in Ayrshire has been damaged after a fire broke out in the premises yesterday (5th February).
Five appliances more than 30 firefighters were called to the Lido restaurant in Troon at 11.26am to tackle a very well-developed fire, reports the Scottish Daily Record.
A fire service spokeswoman told the news provider: "The first two engines which arrived were met with a significant fire which had already started to break out through the roof of the premises.
"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus managed to prevent the fire from spreading. An aerial rescue platform was used with great effect to attack the fire."
A 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in Scotland under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005.
If this fire risk assessment is judged to have not been carried out to a suitable extent, the Duty Holder for the establishment can face up to two years in prison or an unlimited fine.
No one was injured in the blaze. A full investigation into the cause of the fire is currently under way.
