Yes, Ladies and Gentlemen after two months of rewarding and challenging work at the FIA, it’s time to hit the books again this September but not before a summer beach break in Dubai. Working as the FIA Marketing Intern has given me a valuable insight in to the world of work and expanded my horizon of the marketing world.
It may sound very cheesy but in the last two months I feel have changed from a student to an aspiring young professional. I have learnt the tricks of the trade of digital marketing and added to my prior experience in traditional marketing communications. I have been fortunate enough to work with Becky and Monica, two people that excel in Digital Marketing and they have mentored me well through the early stages of my blog writing adventures.
My role has given me a variety of responsibilities that have encompassed event management at the London Fire Safety Seminar and the Social Media Workshop; content management through daily publishing news on twitter as well as all of the wonderful member news stories; I have also had to learn about different writing styles for blogging, press releases and articles. I have also dipped my toe into the world of research and data analysis.
The beauty of a diverse internship like this is that I can take with me a number of skills in different areas to employers next year when I leave university. I hope to also incorporate what I have learnt into my academic study, there is no doubt that my experience should help when I bring myself to start the dreaded dissertation!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at the FIA for all there help during my time here, in particular Monica and Becky who have been brilliant in managing my time and getting me involved in interesting and varied tasks that have made my time here thoroughly enjoyable. As I move on I wish the FIA and all its members every success in the future.
