Survey of Fire Alarm Systems in Great Britain

This study of the installed base of fire alarm systems in Great Britain provides information on the need for new fire alarms and the maintenance of existing fire alarms, by region and region type.

The study objectives were to identify:

  • The number of non-residential buildings by region and the percentage of these which have/do not have systems, analysed by size.
  • The number of buildings by broad commercial or business category and the percentage of these which have/do not have systems, by size.
  • Amongst the alarm base, the percentage of maintained alarms.
  • The age of systems.
  • The percentage of manual versus automatic systems, analysed by age.
  • The percentage which are monitored. i.e. connected to a monitoring centre.
