Fire Extinguisher Use Survey
In combination with other trade associations, FIA has suggested that we update the 2003 ‘Survey into Portable Fire Extinguishers’ to provide the industry with fresh statistics. The survey is to underline the reasons why Portable Extinguishers are so important to life safety.
Our survey in 2003 provided results which led to a quote in “the house” of “80% of fires being extinguished before Fire & Rescue Services intervention by portable extinguishers”.
Please can you issue copies of the survey/questionnaire ‘National Survey 2008’ form to all your portable extinguisher service engineers and ask that they complete a separate questionnaire for each incident. An incident is defined as where an extinguisher, fire blanket or hose reel has been discharged/used and the service engineer attended the premises. The survey will run from 1st July to 30th September 2008.
