Description

 This is a one day introductory level course that encompasses a broad range of fire safety systems and their application. Technical content is kept to a minimum ensuring that delegates that do not have a technical background gain a full understanding of the systems presented.

Who should attend?

The course will benefit anyone who either is responsible for fire safety within a building, provides services or guidance to those responsible or who is a fire industry professional looking to broaden their knowledge.

Aims

At the end of the course the attendee should leave with a good understanding of fire safety, the fire safety industry and the fire safety products and services that are used in the UK's buildings

Content and timings

Delegates will be given an introduction and basic understanding of:

1.       FIRE LEGISLATION. Why we have legislation, its development and The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
2.       THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATION. The benefits of third party certification and how to select a competent person
3.       FIRE. What is fire and how it works, the processes of extinguishing
4.       PASSIVE PROTECTION. Protection through the structure of the building
5.       FIRE DETECTION AND ALARM. The active warning system
6.       SIGNS AND NOTICES. Vital Information
7.       EMERGENCY LIGHTING. Lighting your way to survival
8.       DOCUMENTS AND RECORDS. Evidence that you have got it right

Outcomes

All course delegates will be provided with a comprehensive manual covering the material included in the course and additional support material, serving as a valuable point of reference after completion of the course. Delegates will have an understanding of the wider fire industry and the associated systems.

Documentation

Delegates are provided with a training pack containing a copy of the overheads and a comprehensive set of course notes. The course fee includes lunch and refreshments.

Delegates attending this course should arrive at the venue by 8.30am on the day for a course start time of 9am.
