FIA jointly host International Export Colloquium

19 Dec 2008

The Fire Industry Association Export Council in conjunction with British Security Industry Association (BSIA), the Association of Police and Public Security Suppliers (APPSS) and the British Safety Industry Federation (BSiF) held an International Export Colloquium at The Fire Service College, Moreton-in-Marsh on Wednesday 10 December 2008.
The Colloquium was attended by delegates from the fire, police, security and safety industries attending presentations from 16 Commercial Officers based in British Embassies and Consulates located in Asia, South America and the Caribbean, North Africa and Europe.
The presentations, held in four sections divided by continents, gave brief overviews of the different countries, including statistics regarding the different market sectors.
The attendees were also given the chance to have one-to-one discussions with the Commercial Officers to consider, in greater detail, the opportunities for exporting to those countries.
In the evening a dinner was held by the above groups in conjunction with the government’s trade and investment body UKTI DSO and was attended by HRH Prince Michael of Kent, in his role as Patron of BSIA.
On 11 December the Commercial Officers received a presentation by Wilf Butcher, FIA Export Manager, to give them a greater knowledge of all aspects of the active and passive fire industry sectors.
They were then taken on a tour of the Fire Service College to complete their day, before moving on to BRE on 12 December.
