Launch of New Communication Course by FIA
A new course has been added to the highly successful FIA Training Programme designed to provide service engineers with communications skills which could prove invaluable in their day to day interaction with customers.
The one day course has been developed in recognition of the technician’s position as the public face of a company. When a technician arrives to service a fire extinguisher or a fire detection and alarm system, that may be the only direct dealing that a customer has with its fire service provider. As such, it is an important role, not only in terms of the quality of the service and maintenance offered, but also in the experience the customer has in the process.
The course features a number of different training methods, all aimed at enhancing communication skills and improving awareness of how to interpret and respond to a customer’s needs.
FIA Training Manager Ian Gurling said – “All too often the opportunities presented by a service technician on a site visit are ignored. You need to ensure that the public face of your company is the one that you would want to present and that the technician is comfortable in advising a customer when assistance is sought. It is not rocket science but with a structured approach to training in some basic communications skills, a technician can be an even greater asset to a company.”
