ABFT General Manager to take early retirement
The Board of Directors of the Association of British Fire Trades (ABFT) has announced that General Manager Brendan Gately is to leave the organisation early in 2006.
The ABFT is the organisation through which the secretariat services are administered for a number of the major trade associations operating within the UK fire protection industry, including the Fire Industry Confederation (FIC), the British Fire Protection Systems Association (BFPSA), and the Fire Extinguishing Trades Association (FETA).
Brendan has agreed that, for personal reasons, he will be taking early retirement to pursue other interests, particularly to work with third world countries.
The Board has expressed its thanks to Brendan for his commitment and dedication during his 32 years of service in developing the UK's fire trade associations to the pre-eminent and respected position they enjoy today.
A successor will be announced in due course following a recruitment and selection process. In the meantime, David Bonnett, a board member of ABFT, will adopt the position of interim General Manager.
