Care Homes Seminar - a success!

11 Jun 2008

Care Homes Seminar FIA, in partnership with BAFSA, held a seminar at the West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service Training Centre, aimed at the ‘Responsible Person’ within Care Homes, on 5th June 2008. With over 100 care home representatives in attendance and presentations from a panel of experts including Frank Sheehan, Chief Fire Officer, West Midlands Fire & Rescue Service and Ian Cox, Policy Director CFOA, this informative day also raised a number of questions. The most contentious related to the ‘Residential Care Premises’ Fire Safety Order Guidance, which states “It should be possible under normal operating conditions to evacuate any given protected area in 2 ½ minutes using the staff present to assist residents, where necessary”. In practice this is proving to be difficult.

Copies of the presentations are available for information only and are not to be reproduced without written consent of the presenters.
