Second fire station to be built in Norfolk town
A second fire station is set to be built in a town in Norfolk after crucial funding was secured for the project.
Norfolk Fire and Rescue is set to build a new station at the Horsley Field Industrial Estate in Lynn in a bid to cope with the growing population in the area, reports Lynn News.
Norfolk County Council has pledged £2 million worth of funding to the project, which is expected to be completed within the next two years.
Assistant chief fire officer Roy Harold expressed his delight that the council has decided to back the construction of a new station.
He told the news provider: "We have been looking at the growth of the population in Lynn and the development of the industry, the regeneration, Palm Paper and what has been going on at the Campbell's site.
"We know from looking at the risk profile, we currently have all our fire resources on one side."
The station, which will be manned by a full-time crew, will serve the south-east region of Lynn.
