A voice alarm/public address (VA/PA) system from Morley-IAS by Honeywell has been selected as a key part of the advanced fire safety system at the LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, one of the latest additions to Manchester’s Trafford Centre shopping and leisure complex.
The exciting 30,000 sq ft family entertainment centre attracts over 300,000 visitors a year. It contains over 2 million LEGO bricks and offers a wide range of attractions, including displays of iconic landmarks in MINILAND, an interactive laser ride, a 4D cinema, café and shop.
Working with main electrical contractor, AirCool Midlands, the installation of the VA/PA system was undertaken by Morley-IAS partner, MWE Ltd and is linked to a disabled refuge alarm, access control and intruder alarm systems. “The robustness and reliability of Morley-IAS equipment makes it ideally suited to such hardworking applications,” says MWE’s Managing Director Richard Marriott.
“The complex requirements and large number of visitors at LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre required a sophisticated VA/PA system in order to ensure the safe and controlled phased evacuation in the event of a fire-related incident, as well as a broadcasting range of other public messages,” confirms Mr Marriott.
“The Morley-IAS system offers the right level of flexibility in meeting these needs and since the opening of the Centre has proved trouble-free in operation. At the same time, Morley-IAS also proved highly flexible in supporting the MWE team in meeting the tight installation deadlines demanded by the development.”
