Kent chicken farm damaged in fire
A chicken farm in Kent has been damaged after a huge fire broke out on the site yesterday morning (11th January).
More than 50 firefighters were called to the farm in Frittenden, near Headcorn, at around 11.20am.
At the height of the blaze, ten fire crews were tackling the blaze before Kent Fire and Rescue Service scaled down its efforts at 3.40pm.
Local residents and motorists were advised to keep their windows and doors closed in the immediate aftermath of the fire due to the thick plumes of smoke which were billowing from the farm.
Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, a 'suitable and sufficient' fire risk assessment must be conducted on all commercial properties in England and Wales.
If the fire risk assessment is deemed to be carried out to an insufficient extent, the Responsible Person can face an unlimited fine or a prison sentence of up to two years.
